At age 20 I left Holland for a two-day sailing journey to Norway. Months of walking solo resulted in the experience of 'being one with nature'. White noise gradually faded, allowing for insights and conversations interviewing myself about meaning and purpose.
With a strong appreciation of natural beauty; I realised the potential to design, using nature as my inspiration.
4 years later I migrated to Australia in 1982 for further afar- & new adventures.
From Japanese/Scandinavian inspired furniture to set design, exhibition-, landscape-, interior and product design; I ultimately found myself naming the combined "ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN"; creating environments to suit the intimate needs & wants of people.
The combination of all is what shapes 'noekdesign' to be today.
